I’ll see your springflowers and raise you a castle

OK, first of all. There’s this. The opening shots of last weeks Kyuudou competition. The opening shots were done by one of the sensei.

Then there was my trip to Himeji. Now, I’ve mentioned the coming of spring. And I suppose i could make jokes about the enormous amounts of Japanese swarming to this place.

But, how about I just show you the pictures and you can make up your own mind. Follow the last link, press slideshow; Enjoy

Wow. Crowds. At least you have to give them credit for optimizing blanket space under the flowers. Crowds, but organized crowds.

Damn does he ever get a shot off at that speed?

It’s the opening ceremony, it has as much to do with the honouring of the grandmaster, the honouring of the spirits, some more honouring, the honouring of the people that came before that made the technique possible and considering it is Japan: probably some more honouring I have yet to figure out, as it has to do with hitting stuff. Which he did btw. Twice on a ceremonial target, which has half the diametre as a normal target.

The actual contest is a lot faster, next time I will see if I can put myself on a video and if that’s not completely horrible I will post it. Draw your own conclusions if I post a video of someone else next time.

(The correct conclusion would be: I stood on spot #2,#4 which makes videotaping me relly hard, had to go with someone more visable. Sorry)

Due to work on the roof, ON which we shoot next training session will be in may. Next contest presumably as well
